22 Lessons For 22 Years

We get a bonus post today! Why? It’s my birthday, and I thought it would be appropriate to tell you 22 life lessons that I’ve learned over the course of my life. I’m giving 22 lessons because today is my 22nd birthday, so let’s get started.

  1. Always treat waitstaff or customer service workers as if they’ve made your day. Their jobs are difficult and it’s nice to be treated exceptionally well.
  2. If you want it back, don’t lend it out.
  3. Brush your teeth, wash your face, and put on makeup before you get dressed.
  4. Always triple-check your math.
  5. When you’re in a job interview and they ask you if you have any questions, the wrong answer is “No.”
  6. If you’re not using a planner, you’re doing life wrong.
  7. Find the thing that you love, and do it every single day.
  8. Help people when you can. You almost always can.
  9. Learn your grocery store’s layout, and make your lists in order of where the items are located in the store.
  10. Even if you think you’ll remember it, write it down anyway.
  11. Most museums and state/national parks have discounted or free admission days. Go to those.
  12. Always have a book to read in your spare time.
  13. Drink more water = feel better.
  14. Clean up after yourself, even if you think someone will get paid to clean up after you later.
  15. If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
  16. Eat minimum one vegetable a day.
  17. Visit your local library.
  18. Take time to meditate, pray, or just have quiet time every day.
  19. Carbs and sugar don’t make you fat. Eat them.
  20. Give a compliment everyday.
  21. Practice positive self-talk.
  22. The future is bright. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.
